The Fisher Foundation will accept grant requests from nonprofit organizations located in,
and/or serving the residents of, the Greater Hartford area (Avon, Bloomfield, East Hartford,
Enfield, Farmington, Glastonbury, Hartford, Manchester, Newington, Rocky Hill, Simsbury,
South Windsor, Vernon, West Hartford, Wethersfield, and Windsor.) Preference will be given
to projects that benefit education, arts and culture, health and human services, and
critical community needs. The Foundation does not fund conferences, retreats,
performances, events, or capital campaigns.
The Board of Trustees of the Fisher Foundation
meets three times annually, in the months of March, June and November.
For consideration at those meetings, applications must be
received at the Foundation, not later than 5:00 p.m. on January 15, April 15, or
September 15, respectively. Prior
to submitting an application, a letter of inquiry or conversation with
the staff to discuss the specific purpose for which the funds are being
requested is strongly recommended. Applications
will be accepted any time prior to these deadlines, and will be reviewed
in the order received. Early
and complete presentation of material is advised.
Before a funding request is referred to the Board of Trustees for
consideration, it will be reviewed by Foundation staff. Such
review may involve meeting with the grant applicant, visiting the
project, and talking with other agencies and individuals who are
knowledgeable about the need which the grant request addresses. In addition, any new grant request will not be considered
until the final report for any previous grant has been received.
